Artwork Description

Memories of warm summer nights, with a slight breeze rustling through the trees. This piece has been created on a wooden artboard. Alcohol inks have been used to create the beautiful textures within the petals and leaf collage pieces. The pieces have been cut and arranged. Then layers of resin have been applied on top with hand drawn details and more collage pieces between each layer to achieve the subtle 3D effect.
3 layers of resin

Artist Bio

Hi I’m Natalie Jayne, a alcohol ink and collage artist based in Melbourne.
Art has always been such a huge part of my identity, my sanctuary, and my way of connecting with the world.

The inspiration for my art pieces comes from the different aspects of nature, the vibrant hues of flowers, the calming waves of the beach, and the resilience of greenery. Nature's ever-changing canvas is a gentle reminder that there is beauty found in each stage of growth or change.

I first discovered alcohol inks in 2017 and instantly fell in love with them.
Alcohol inks are really something special, no two pieces are ever the same. Painting with them is like seeing a dance of colours right before your eyes, and once dried they unveil the most mesmerising patterns and textures.

After years of creating abstract pieces of art with alcohol inks, I realised that these images closely mimicked the textures and details that are found in flowers and leaves. I began to experiment with cutting out petal shapes to create unique floral collages, an amazing new way to use my beloved alcohol inks within pieces that are both different and beautiful. This was how the birth of my floral collage art style came to life.

When people experience my art I hope that they feel a connection, a tug at their heartstrings. I want to transport people to a unique memory, to feel joy, and to see a story unfold before their eyes.
