This new abstract floral series titled 'Oshibana' is inspired by the ancient Japanese art form of drying and pressing flowers. With this new body of work, I wanted to capture the feeling and textures of a dried and flattened Sunflower.
This heavily textured Abstract Floral Painting plays on a thick textured canvas base and has layers of moulding and crackle paste to add texture and depth. Inspired by the Sunflower of the same name, I have used various shades of purple on the outer petals and orange on the inside of the sunflower and a dark/deep blue background, making this piece pop!
I have also added expressive marks made with pen, paint and spray paint.
This original painting will NEVER be reproduced in any other format (eg print or NFT), so you can enjoy the benefits of knowing that this is a one-of-a-kind, made especially for your home.
