Artwork Description

Inspired by the presence of the superb fairywren, this piece reflects my deep admiration for these tiny, energetic birds that bring life to my mornings. I planted a grevillea just outside my lounge room window, and since then, I’ve been captivated by the daily antics of the male fairywren. As I sip my coffee, I watch him flit gracefully between the branches, his vibrant blue head and tail a stunning contrast against the greenery, moving like a flag in the breeze. The way he socialises and chats with his fellow wrens, darting in and out of the foliage in search of insects and nectar, fills me with joy. His lively, playful energy perfectly mirrors the freshness of a new day, reminding me of the simple beauty in the natural world.

Artist Bio

As a day dreamer, a lover of nature and a sentimental soul it is not surprising that Natalie picked up pencils and brushes from a young age to explore and document the world around her. Growing up living and exploring the bushland and coastal areas of southern Sydney, the Illawarra and the South Coast of NSW has created countless opportunities to draw and paint. Art is a meditative process to me. A chance to stop and really explore the beauty in the world around me. My first love was pencil. I would document things I love in a visual diary. I then discovered watercolour and have been slowly honing my skills over the past 15 years. I love watercolour for the whimsical and ephemeral quality it gives to my work whilst also allowing me to capture the fine details where needed.
