Artwork Description

Sweet Child of Mine is a large-scale floral painting built on a palette of deep crimson, burgundy and warm magenta. The blooms push forward from a dark, layered background, creating depth and intensity that draws the eye immediately.
Painted with raw, loose brushwork, the work carries a sense of movement and emotion without losing its elegance. There is a warmth to it — bold enough to anchor a room, refined enough to complement both contemporary and classic interiors.
This piece works especially well in dining rooms, living spaces, or entryways where a single artwork needs to hold the wall. The dark tones ground a space while the reds and pinks bring genuine warmth and energy.

Artist Bio

Natalie Parker is an abstract artist based in Melbourne. Her expressive paintings explore the rawness of human emotion through gestural mark making, contrasting brushstrokes and colour. With a paint brush in her hand since kindergarten, art has been the vehicle through which this introvert can express herself to the world.

Formally trained with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Postgraduate Diploma of Secondary School Art Teaching, Natalie's art knowledge and experience provides her with a wealth of ideas to explore in the studio. Natalie's process begins with a colour palette and feeling in mind as she takes to the canvas. Often beginning with expressive brushstrokes and gestural mark making. As the work begins to take form she pulls back and assesses what to leave and what to remove. With layers of colour and a push and pull conversation emerging, Natalie remains in the dance of the work until resolution and peace arise.

Through her work, Natalie aims to bring a sense of calm and order and show that beauty and joy can emerge in even the most challenging seasons of life.
