Artwork Description

Cott is all about that warm, easy feeling of summers past. I painted it with soft edges, gentle muted colours and simple little details to bring out that nostalgic glow. The moment itself came from watching a family finish up a quick midday swim—dad tugging on his shirt, their child wrapped in a cosy hooded towel, mum waiting with the beach bag. They travelled so lightly, just the basics, and it instantly reminded me of my own childhood summers of sand morning, a towel and snack, then home for lunch and a rest. Those memories shaped the soft tones and relaxed mood of the piece, giving Cott its friendly, familiar charm.

Artist Bio

As a glass half full kind of person, Natasha naturally gravitates toward compositions filled with beauty and playful energy. Her paintings echo a long-standing love affair with the ocean. During her childhood she lived with her family on a large wheat and sheep property in rural Wester Australia and their annual beach holiday was a cherished tradition—memories that now come to life through her beachscape paintings.

Beyond nostalgia, Natasha's work highlights the power of community and shared experience. By capturing moments in time, she invites viewers to reflect on their own treasured memories, forging connections through storytelling.

Natasha moved to the city to complete a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Graduate Diploma in Education, building a career that fosters creativity in young people. Teaching and volunteering in schools—painting sets and murals—led her to repurpose household acrylics onto birch wooden panels. Sustainability is central to her practice—not just through materials, but in themes of environmental awareness and participation.
