Glorious Mandarins is my still life oil painting that explore close-up views of still life compositions. I use blue and white porcelain as the main object of each painting combined with other fruits and objects such as flowers, lemons, mandarins and pomegranates. Thai fabrics are incorporated into the setting as a representation of my origin in the picture. The intention of this body of work is to create beauty through the use of colour and composition that provoke thoughts, cultures, philosophies and personal history. This works also reflect our multicultural society, human migration and the mixing of people and culture.
