Artwork Description

Peeled orange and butterfly is part of my small classical still life series, focusing on capturing objects on dark background like in those classical paintings by the old master.

Mandarin is a symbol of luck and wealth in China and orange is a colour of joy and creativity.
Inspired by a classical still life painting. This painting depicts a peeled mandarin sits calmly on a bench top presenting its beauty to the viewer. The butterfly adds spiritual feel to the picture and also signifies the transience of the moment.
