Artwork Description

This painting is inspired by my sister’s stunning Sea Urchin Cactus which had two amazing large blooms at the time. I chose one to paint which I pictured in my mind would look extraordinary in a Chinoiserie Vase. This art has a whimsical feel and the blue background gives a dramatic contrast.

Artist Bio

Flowers bring vitality and joy to any space.
My passion lies in crafting contemporary botanical art that captures nature's essence, with a vibrant and sometimes whimsical flair, drawing inspiration from renowned impressionists such as Gauguin, Matisse, and Bonnard.

I have a background in graphic design publishing and art directing, including illustrating and designing various book titles and garden magazines. After leaving my hectic career I rediscovered my love for painting. I honed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and the Waverley Woollahra Art School under the guidance of acclaimed artist Stavros Papantoniou. Supported by art enthusiasts worldwide, I showcase my work on platforms like Bluethumb Online Gallery, Art Lovers Australia, and Fine Art America.

When seeking inspiration, I enjoy exploring art galleries and exhibitions, as well as the tranquil botanical gardens that boast beautiful and ever-changing displays of blooming plants.
