Artwork Description

This mini artwork of the Winter Iris is part of a series of floral art on small canvasses. It’s fun to paint on this size yet also time consuming! But the Iris flower has such graceful curves that are so enticing to paint.

Artist Bio

Flowers bring vitality and joy to any space, and I love capturing their beauty and personality through my contemporary botanical paintings. My work is vibrant and expressive, sometimes with a whimsical twist, inspired by the colour and forms of artists such as Gauguin, Matisse and Bonnard.

After more than 30 years in graphic design, publishing and art direction, including designing and illustrating books and garden magazines, I returned to my love of painting. I further developed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and Waverley Woollahra Art School, studying under the late artist Stavros Papantoniou.

In 2023, I won the Open Category at the Randwick Council International Women’s Day Art Prize, and my work has been featured in The Atelier Magazine and The Art Insight.

Today, I share my work with art lovers in Australia and overseas through Bluethumb Online Gallery, The Online Art Gallery Australia and Saatchi Art, with a small selection of prints also available on INPRNT.

Inspiration is never far away. I love visiting art galleries and exhibitions, as well as wandering through botanical gardens, where the ever-changing colours, shapes and abundance of blooms continually spark new ideas for my paintings.
