Natasha Zraikat is a magical realist oil painter living on the Gold Coast (Yugambeh Country) Australia. She was born in California to Jordanian-Palestinian and Russian-Ukrainian parents. Natasha migrated to Australia with her family as a child where she has lived ever since.
Natasha has a deep interest in environmentalism, humanitarianism and storytelling and these themes underpin much of her work. She strives to bring deeper meaning and positive change to the world through her paintings and their stories, while also using her art as a vehicle to explore her emotions around her origin and identity.
Natasha spent a year in Italy for creative development where she won First Prize in the City Wide Art VIII Competition in Florence. Her work has since been included in numerous art prizes and local and international exhibitions, and her work collected across Australia, the USA, the UK and Europe. After years of building a career as a Graphic Design Lead, Natasha has recently returned her main focus to her life’s passion - her art.
Natasha is fascinated with nature, humanity and how the two interconnect. The animal allegories found in her work represent various parts of her psyche and how she perceives reality, exploring our intrinsic connection to our natural surroundings.
Building upon previous years in contemporary portraiture, Natasha’s current work looks beyond the physical subject - diving into the realms of deeper consciousness and the human relationship with the natural and spiritual worlds.
Thoughtful compositions, glowing palettes and painterly brushwork combine, blurring the lines that often define realism and inviting the viewer into a dream-like state where intuitive meaning triumphs over physical reality.
