Hi my name is Nathasha Wanigasekera. I am a passionate artist with a rich cultural background, blending the vibrancy of Sri Lankan heritage with the diverse influences of my upbringing in Singapore and current life in Melbourne, Australia. My work reflects not only my love for art but also my personal journey through grief, healing, and self-expression.
Art has always been a significant part of my life, but it became even more vital after the passing of my dad, my closest friend and biggest supporter, who lost his battle with cancer. In the midst of my loss, I turned to my art as a way of coping, finding peace, solace, and healing through each stroke and creation. My artwork serves as both a tribute and a means of maintaining a deep, spiritual connection with my dad, who was a great admirer of my work and encouraged me in every step of my artistic journey.
Through my paintings, I have cultivated a unique space where I can find calm amidst chaos, transforming my grief into something beautiful and meaningful. Every piece is infused with my emotions, my memories, and my desire to create something that not only honours my dad’s memory but also helps me navigate the complexities of life. Art is not just a passion for me—it is my sanctuary, my way of finding joy and balance in a world that has forever changed.
My work explores a variety of mediums, with a focus on vibrant colors, textures, and fluid forms that reflect my diverse influences and personal expression. My journey as an artist is one of resilience, love, and tribute, as I continue to create in honour of the man who believed in my vision and saw beauty in every piece I made.
This art page is dedicated to my dad’s memory and to the healing power of creativity.
