MARK THRUSH – NAMBOUR – QUEENSLAND. Studied at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) – Finished my Honors in 1995 - Majored in textiles – mainly tapestry weaving. After completing this degree, I was employed at the Victorian Tapestry Workshop for one year. Following this I taught myself the medium of painting and I like painting where chance and chemical reactions take place. Commercial varnish dominates these reactions and every painting is unique. I thoroughly enjoy this process and the joy of watching the paintings evolve. I also enjoy other painting mediums such as oil, acrylic and enamel. Painting from imagination appeals to me and abstract painting seems to be what I enjoy most. Enamels give me fluidity and spontaneity, whereas oil and acrylics can be both textural or fluid. I also love working with charcoal and graphite.
