Neftnik is a self taught stencil and pasteup artist from Melbourne. As a young child my parents (for birthdays and christmas) gave me the Adventures of Tintin books. I enjoyed the stories but it was really the artwork that got me excited. This led to a fascination with comic books and graphic novels - American, British, Japanese and Underground. All of these have influenced the kind of art I like to create. In general I prefer to use various shades of blue, I find it is the warmest colour. My art features mostly females, many of them with weapons. These works are fueled by the love I have for female comic characters and the rage I feel over the continuing epidemic of violence against women. I always had a passion for stencil art and love the process of making very detailed stencils and spray painting them. My work is created in layers to become stencil art although with some pieces I might decide to progress them as hybrid (part stencil, part digital art) and won't cut the stencil.
