Artist Bio

The passenger airplane is the most prominent of numerous recurring motifs in my work. The planes are a symbol of capitalism and consumerism, both a target and a weapon, inspiring emotions ranging from dread to joyous aspiration. My paintings are an examination and a critique of our bourgeois Australian existence in the twenty first century.
I build all my canvasses by hand using plywood, masonite or MDF board, second hand when I can find it. The paints I use are all old, discarded and recycled house paints, mostly semi gloss water based acrylic. All paintings are ready to hang.
I've dabbled across various mediums over the years. Studied Fine Art (Ceramics) at Monash Caulfield as a young lad in the 1990's. Went back years later for an Masters in Visual Art at Federation Uni, Gippsland which was a lot of fun...
These days I'm a self employed commercial photographer specialising in real estate work. Self published a handful of random photo books. Also do quite a bit of painting on the side, on and off ya know, it's hard to keep up the momentum, the inspiration, motivation, the flow ya know...
