Artist Bio

Resume of Neil Trapp
I was born in Queensland in 1947and received most of my formal education in Queensland. My working life has been spent as an artisan and an artist and I complemented my artistic endeavours with a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Queensland which included a major in Art History. My paintings now reflect my intrigue with Art History and most have a story to tell to the viewer.
I spent twenty-five years in military service and there is often a reflection of military agony in my paintings. I still have a love of Asian countries and the people who strive to live there. I generally spend two months of each year painting and drawing in Asia.
Several years of my career I spent teaching at Schools, TAFE, and University. The teaching position that returned the most satisfaction was in the Peoples Republic of China, Ningbo Polytechnic University. During this time, I endeavoured to master the Chinese style of ink drawing and calligraphy.
I had my first solo exhibition in Blacktown City in approximately 1984 and have had several in the Redlands, Brisbane Bayside in recent years.
I relate to the work of George Gittoes who was born two years after me. His works arising from war-torn Cambodia in particular hold my interest and reflect my paintings of the disasters of war.
A selection of my work is available from the internet, Neil Trapp Fine Art America, Redlands Creative Alliance, and Art Advancement.com.
