Artwork Description

This work is inspired by the yellow tailed black cockatoos that visited the ash tree in my garden. It was autumn and the leaves on the tree were turning. The sky was a beautiful soft violet colour as it was nearing the end of the day.

Artist Bio

Nellie is a practicing visual artist who works from her home studio in Geelong. She works across several disciplines such as drawing, painting (oil, watercolour, gouache, ink), and printmaking. Her artistic style varies from abstract, realism and symbolic and her work is inspired by her interests in mythology, symbolism, colour, pattern, history, philosophy, the natural world and human experience
She has taught in Visual Art at a tertiary level and at a vocational level for over 15 years in Geelong. She has qualifications in Visual Art and has completed many short courses in various aspects of visual art, such as print making courses at the Australian Print Workshop.
She has exhibited regularly with her last exhibition being held at Artisans of Australia in Drysdale, in 2022. The exhibition entitled “ 4 Ways of Seeing” showcased the works of 4 local artists.
Her art work has won prizes and has been selected as finalists in art competitions in Geelong and Melbourne. She is represented in collections both locally and overseas.
