Artwork Description

I was inspired to capture the glow of the setting sun and its warmth in this painting. The oncoming car's headlights add a sense of mystery.
The scene is the Western Freeway in Bacchus Marsh, showing the iconic cross on the hill in the background.

Nerrida Parfitt is a contemporary painter with formal training in visual art and graphic/multimedia  design.

Working predominantly in oils, she paints from her home studio in regional Victoria.

Her artworks explore the relationship between the natural world and the built environment. Her compositions often have a surrealist tone, depicting abandoned buildings and gothic scenes of the Australian landscape.

The theme of change and impermanence resonates throughout her artwork.
