The nostalgic memories of $2 Tuesday's at Blockbuster was the initial prompt to create this piece, touching on the continued rise of Netflix and their price increases.
Whilst $2 Tuesday's are a thing of the past, the memories associated with Blockbuster are forever to a particular generation, and the Netflix era has taken over as seen overlapping on this piece. There are various symbolic elements to this piece, beginning with the overlapping logos, as well as the blood of Blockbuster leaking from the sides; additionally the password sharing rules are touched on with the multiple asterisks at the bottom right of the canvas.
The vibrant colours create an eye capturing piece, working with mixed media and acrylic on a large scale, statement piece. For any collectors, this piece has elements of Basquiat and Warhol's collaboration on their Paramount piece.
