I was working in a clothing store and they had a lot of images of Skeltons. Naturally, I gained in interest in the types of people buying these items, the amount of items sold a day/week, etc.. and on Boxing Day, these shirts were our best sellers with people venting physical frustration when they couldn't find the size they wanted.
I wanted to work on a particular colour scheme, with a focal point. The use of a magazine being torn away within the work represents our connection to materialism, and a metaphor for causing destruction when fighting for what we want.
The skeleton is a representation of our physical being, and the careless nature we think we all possess. With bold black writing across the image demonstrates the reality of our situation. We need to find our inner carelessness and forget about the items we "believe" we need because it's popular or we see someone with it that we like. We aren't on this place for too long, and we should all just have a little fun.
