A mixed media piece with the pure intent to demonstrate the contrast between life and death.
Through a layering process, various elements both seen and unseen combine to create a realistic depiction of what life is all about. Each layer of unseen or vaguely noticeable elements, represents a period of one's life . Overlapping layers with contrasting colours to demonstrate the progress forward through our own life and the emotions felt during a moment in time. The overlapping illustrations give insight into both life and death. Life is about thriving and doing the things you love, whether that be smelling the roses or racing a random car. The small statement "life is imminent" asks the viewer to reflect on one's life and determine whether their life has truly begun or not. Life will begin when you want it to.
There has been a collage of newspaper under the animal skull, with torn pieces representing the tearing away of any fears one may have about death; unveiling a new layer of nothing. This is a further demonstration of fear holding us back, and there is nothing to be afraid of.
