This piece is part of my Under The Canopy Collection, inspired by the rainforests I visited while travelling around Australia and drawing similarities between the complexity and fragility of the rainforest ecosystem and the social ecosystem we live in. In the rainforest every plant and animal has it's purpose in keeping the ecosystem running and when something is taken from that ecosystem if effects the whole rainforest. I feel this is similar to our social ecosystem, in the way we interact with each other and how much of an impact we make simply by our interactions and perceptions of each other. Both ecosystems are fragile and dependent on all the surrounding factors to thrive.

Artist Bio
Nic Everist is a landscape artist working from her studio in Barwon Heads, Australia. Inspired by her travels, Nic loves to discover new landscapes and delve into the stories behind them; whether that be the story behind the place she is visiting, or the ones that emerge through her explorations. Each painting is accompanied by a poem to offer the viewer a deeper understanding of her work.
Over the course of numerous layers, Nic combines the abstract technique of acrylic pouring with realistic finishes to reflect both the organic yet defined elements of nature. These techniques mimic the unpredictable patterns of our natural environment while also drawing the viewerโs eye to the finer details. Through her art she hopes to encourage others to pay close attention to the world around them, and the patterns that emerge.
