Artwork Description

This piece is from my collection of work titled I'm Still Here. This body of work is inspired by some of my favourite sketches and reference images from my travel around Australia last year and also in celebration of the fact that I'm still here, able to write these words, able to spend time with loved ones, able to continue following my passion of creating, after a really scary car accident I had mid trip.

I hope each of these pieces in this collection inspires us to look for the joy in our everyday lives and to really appreciate the beauty that is all around us.

In these works I use a technique I have used since the beginning of my art practice, pouring paint onto the canvas to mimic the unpredictable nature and textures of the natural environment, then adding in the fine details at the end to bring it all together into a recognisable form.

I hope you enjoy these works and they can bring a little joy to you each day!

This piece is called Natures Gift - Peach, here is the poem that goes with it.

Natures gift
Are the flowers that belong
To this earth that we share,
So beautiful, so strong

Artist Bio

Nic Everist is a landscape artist working from her studio in Barwon Heads, Australia. Inspired by her travels, Nic loves to discover new landscapes and delve into the stories behind them; whether that be the story behind the place she is visiting, or the ones that emerge through her explorations. Each painting is accompanied by a poem to offer the viewer a deeper understanding of her work.

Over the course of numerous layers, Nic combines the abstract technique of acrylic pouring with realistic finishes to reflect both the organic yet defined elements of nature. These techniques mimic the unpredictable patterns of our natural environment while also drawing the viewer’s eye to the finer details. Through her art she hopes to encourage others to pay close attention to the world around them, and the patterns that emerge.
