I grew up among scattered paints, palettes smeared in colour and brushes waiting expectantly in jars. There was always a drop sheet on the floor, a canvas on the easel and a hint of thinners in the air. I had pencils, pastels and paint and I dabbled with everything.
I still dabble. But I have my most fun with impasto acrylics, spread thick with palette knife and brush or whatever lies at hand. Garbage lids, paint bottles, even my coffee mug has come in handy to help capture whatever it is mean to share.
And that's what I paint. Things I've dreamed of, things I've seen, big ideas, single moments - the things I want to say.
As a professional artist I have sold more than 200 paintings in Australia and across the world. I am back after a necessary break while I battled breast cancer and won, My new artwork examines beauty and how it manifests without and within us all. It will challenge definitions of beauty, explore themes of identity and transformation and express the unique magic of the individual.
