As an artist that lives at Seacliff, I often walk along my local coastline to Brighton Jetty and back. I love the historic nature of my surrounding suburbs of Marino, Seacliff and Brighton. This painting is of course the iconic Brighton Jetty. I painted the sky in a swirling array of short brush strokes of broken colour in the inspirational style of Vincent van Gogh with the complementary colours of blues and orange. In contrast, the water pays homage to the broader brush strokes reminiscent of the Modern Australian artist Grace Cossington Smith and infusing the cubist nature of Grace Crowley with thicker strokes of colours. And yes - I used Cerulean Blue in this painting - 'Brighton Jetty in Cerulean Blue'.
