'Sneek Watergate'

Inspired from visiting Sneek in the north of the Netherlands. Sneek is situated in Southwest-Friesland and is well known for its canals and the Waterpoort (Watergate, the symbol of the city). The viewers eye is led up the path to the focal point of the Watergate, painted in brown earth colours. Swirling tones of blue dry brushstroke create the sky, while balance is created with light green vegetation on both sides.

I was born in Adelaide, South Australia, worked as an art teacher and artist in Victoria and South Australia after completing my B.A. in Secondary Art Teaching in 1982 and B.A. in Design in at the University of South Australia in 1988. I am inspired by my travels overseas to Paris, France and The Netherlands as well as my local coastal community. I enjoy painting in oil paints to create a textural effect with paint brushes and also use acrylic paint.
