I loved the reference picture for this piece because the way the photograph had been lit and edited, it looked like an oil painting. It made me interested in seeing what it would look like in this geometric style.
The ultimately painting this piece twice as the first time I painted it, the face had a very grey scale/undertone, it lacked the rich warm undertones of the pinks, golds and creams that the original photograph did. So I painted the face and portions of the hair, again.
