Story behind the moment

Caption from @seathroughsound on Instagram (05.04.2020)

Doing ocean photography while the beaches are closed is perfect kind of limitation that inspires new creative approaches. I’ve been spending my weekends stand up paddle boarding with my @axisgo so I can listen to music. Snapped this shot this afternoon as the mini waves from the boats drifted into view of the @sydneyoperahouse 😊 Now that everyone’s inside and using video chat for everything, the world’s felt a lot smaller. This has led to me chatting more to creatives around the world. This shot was inspired by some of @rvphotoco ‘s work. I’d definitely recommend checking it out 😊

Artist Bio

Nick is a Sydney-based underwater photographer, music producer and DJ who writes music for the clips he captures in the ocean. Inspired by photographers such as Chris Burkard, he pairs each image with a
caption that details the adventure behind the image. To top it off each photo is paired with a song that perfectly captures the moment.
He first thought of the idea for Sea Through Sound while bobbing around in a sensory deprivation tank a few years ago. Since then he has had the honour of presenting his photography at The Other Art Fair twice in 2021 and receiving a short-listed position in the Monster Children photo competition 2020 in the ‘Shot on Mobile’ category. He loves capturing abstract photos of waves, especially in a dark and moody setting. His philosophy on editing his photos comes from a desire to give the viewer the visceral feeling of being in the ocean. Come and discover these moments in the ocean, best enjoyed with music.
