Although I grew up in a house covered in fine art, I didn’t discover I had an interest in art until the age of 30. During a stay at a treatment centre for mental health and addiction I was despondent at the art therapy classes until one day I decided to try and copy a photo of a painting my mum had sent me. I took a box of watercolours into the corner and became utterly captivated, falling in love with the medium, challenges and process. Art has given me purpose during periods of hopelessness and desperation during my journey of recovery.
Since then, I have done two plein air art courses in NSW. Taken up oils. This year, 2023, I started a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School in Sydney. My art practice currently involves watercolour, oil, gouache, ink and drawing. However, as I move through the curriculum at NAS it is constantly evolving. My practice also involves plein air, pastiche and studio work.
