Artwork Description

“Shifting Horizons” is a vibrant, rhythmic abstract work created using acrylic on canvas. Measuring 101.5cm (L) x 76cm (H), the piece is built from hundreds of individually painted marks that flow across the surface in waves of warm reds, soft purples, earthy greens and gentle light blues. These repeating organic shapes and colours create a sense of movement—almost like shifting landscapes, flowing water, or terrain seen from above.

The painting has a calming, meditative energy while still offering rich visual interest up close. Its layered patterns and colour transitions invite the viewer to follow the rhythm across the canvas, discovering new pathways and details each time.

I have included photos of the artwork in natural sunlight, as well as indoors, to show an accurate representation of the colours.

This artwork arrives unframed, giving you the freedom to choose a frame that best suits your interior style. I personally recommend a natural timber floating frame, which complements the earthy tones beautifully. However, if you prefer to display it unframed, the edges have been fully painted, ensuring there’s no exposed white canvas and the artwork looks polished from every angle.

"Shifting Horizons" works beautifully as a feature piece in living rooms, bedrooms, entryways or office spaces. It brings warmth, texture and visual interest to any interior.

Ready to hang. Acrylic on stretched canvas. Made with love.

Artist Bio

I'm Nicola, an abstract artist based in Brisbane. I work primarily with acrylic on canvas, exploring emotion, energy, and form through layered colour and texture. My process is intuitive but considered — a balance between composition, rhythm, and instinct. I’m drawn to bold contrasts and rich layers that capture a sense of movement and emotion as they develop on the canvas. Each work is an abstract reflection of rhythm and energy, created to evoke connection and bring a sense of calm, curiosity, or vitality to the spaces they inhabit.
