Cuckoos the world over are famously known for fooling other species into rearing their young by laying their egg in another bird’s nest - negating all parenting duties! They remove one of the existing eggs as to not arouse the host mother’s suspicions, the young cuckoo then hatches early and dominates the brood by pushing the other chicks out. They are an interesting species to study both behaviourally and visually - their plumage is a luminous combination of green, blue and bronze depending on the light. A joy to watch in the wild and a joy to paint.
This original one-off artwork has been painted with Matisse Acrylic on stretched deep edge cotton duck canvas (sides painted), a wooden floater frame is included. It is finished with Windsor & Newton Gloss varnish for UV protection & longevity. A collectors authenticity certificate is included for valuation & insurance purposes.
