Artwork Description

The male Common Kingfisher is unmistakable due to its striking colouring, it is a vibrant bird with beautiful brilliant plumage. The blue and green colours that they are famous for are due to iridescence, not pigment, so in different lights and from multiple angles they will appear quite chromatic. They are sadly under threat from river pollution, disturbances and human developments. They are especially vulnerable to bouts of severe weather change excelled by global warming.

This original one-off artwork has been painted with high quality Langridge Professional Oil (handmade in Melbourne) on canvas panel, finished with W&N gloss varnish for UV protection & longevity. Comes with an authenticity certificate for valuation and insurance purposes.
