Artwork Description

Noosa can be a busy, exciting place full of activities and food festivals, but it is also an escape to quiet spots where you can watch boats bobbing and let time tick by. This delicate watercolour captures the wide openness of Noosa River under a soft blush sky. The gentle paint washes create a light-filled atmosphere that feels serene and expansive. My aim was to capture the calm, tranquility of this favourite place to sit and watch by using a balance of detail and soft abstraction.

Artist Bio

Art has been a passionate and joyful part of my life since childhood. My formal studies began in photography but with the rise of digital media I felt drawn back to the tactile, physical nature of painting so I traded lens for paintbrush, choosing the immediacy and hands-on process of working with paint.
Through studies in perspective drawing, portraiture and techniques in oil, watercolour and acrylic I discovered early on that Impressionism resonated most deeply with me. It allows creativity and personality to shine, while still demanding skill and sensitivity to my subject throughout the painting process. For me, painting is a happy balance between spontaneity and discipline.
I am particularly drawn to painting from life, often working outdoors on location, absorbing fleeting moments of light, colour and pattern. I strive to capture impressions as they unfold and those small plein air studies often become the inspiration for larger works developed later in my studio.
