Series “Sublime intoxication”
Delaney’s series “Sublime intoxication” is to explore colour and its intoxicating effect, expressing the dynamic energy of the sublime.
The intensities of the sublime can also have an intoxicating effect. The sublime is closely associated with beauty, but also exaltation, an experience that takes us beyond the ordinary. The sublime becomes the absolute of perfect sensations and acute sensibility, capturing the essence of things, not merely concerned with representation.
“…If one really wishes to be master of an art, technical knowledge of it is not enough. One has to transcend technique so that the art becomes an ‘artless art’ growing out of the Unconscious …Man is a thinking reed but his great works are done when he is not calculating and thinking. “
