While not originally part of the 'Gilded Wildflowers' collection it takes the same inspiration. I paint wildflowers(some call weeds) and treat them as if they were roses, and tulips and frame them in gold. This work was created during my Artist's Residency in Cygnet at Balfour House.
I hadn't come across these wildflowers before moving to the Huon Valley and I'm totally enamoured with the purple blue colouring. I'm told they are part of the Veronica genus, with the common names of Speedwell, bird's eye and gypsyweed. I think to me they will always be Veronica.
