A family wandering through a rainforest
I've worked as an illustrator in newspapers, magazines and books for 20 years. I've mostly worked in pen and ink but recently have turned to watercolour. I grew up in the South of England where I developed an obsession for hilly landscapes. Ironically hay fever would keep me from spending too much time outside but I love to paint hills or indeed the memory of hills. Also shrubs and ferns. I like watercolour as it tends to have a life of its own and can turn the most studied piece into a rather messy yet still pleasing semi abstract. I tend to use a loose line for my pen work and and am attempting to bring the same looseness to my paintings.
