In Flight Ed. 1 of 3

Capturing this image of a dancer in flight. The circular motion of the arms gracefully enclosing the body, the leg pushing forward. I wanted to capture that moment of weightlessness. Complete within itself. I took this photograph during a photographic session with a dancer trying to focus on the pure experience of being within the body. I then digitally painted and manipulated it to remove context and create ambiguity so that the viewer could find their own narrative within it.

Nikki Willson is a lens based artist who works as a photographer and digital film maker. She creates moving image works and photography at times combining these with digital collage, painting and photographic manipulation. These techniques are utilised in order to create works that carry an ambiguity of space and context allowing the viewer to create their own narrative. Nikki's work is psychological, emotive nd figurative and explores the internal and external worlds of the individual. In her 20 years as a practicing artist Nikki has exhibited in a range of solo and group shows, in the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia as well as in international virtual exhibitions.
