Artwork Description

Title: Industry
Theme: An sbstract geometric painting featuring layered angular forms in bold, earthy and pastel tones, this is Industry.
With migration policies and anti-immigration sentiments becoming topical in 2025, this work reminds us that many Australian industries have been created by, industralised with new technologies and practices from around the world, and are run and managed by multicultural Australians. INDUSTRY is in the eye of the beholder- in the sharp edges and deep colours, whether you see buildings, machinery or a glimpse of homes and streets, these are places we cultivated together.

Description:
This contemporary abstract artwork showcases overlapping geometric shapes with sharp, faceted edges, creating a dynamic sense of movement and depth. Rich burgundy, mustard yellow, forest green, teal, blush pink, and soft cream are contrasted against a cool turquoise background. Textured brushstrokes and visible line work add a hand-crafted, painterly quality, blending modern abstraction with a slightly cubist aesthetic. The composition feels architectural and landscape-inspired, evoking mountains, structures, or shifting terrain through abstract form.
