La saison des courses

Money, horseracing and women. The riders upon the galloping horses and the crowd that closes in behind. Spring brings the start of the racing season in Melbourne. In November, the swiftest of horses gallop on the track at Flemington Racecourse for the Melbourne Cup. One of the world's richest races.

This artwork is a nod to the beauty of the track with the red, yellow and white roses encompassed by the glossy white fences. Horse and rider now ride as one. "Let's go to the races".

Melbourne Artist Biography

Nola has been an artist and has had a love of painting since her formative years. Although having had formal training, her process is still evolving through experimentation of various mediums and subject matter.

The human experience,  flora and romance capture her imagination. She is inspired by the Impressionists and their use of colour and light, but also admires the contemporary artists such as Canadian , Bobbie Burgers and Russian Impressionists, Mstislav Pavlav and Ivan Stravinsky.

Her paintings are mainly bright, painterly acrylics on stretched canvas, often with textural effects.

This award-winning artist has exhibited and sold in several Art Shows, both in Perth and Melbourne, including the prestigious Camberwell Art Show.
