This piece is a part of the Coral Coast Collection that I have been working on after visiting this part of WA back in April 2021.
Stretching over 1,000km of breathtaking coastline from Cervantes, two hours north of Perth, Western Australia, to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, Australia's Coral Coast is home to stunning bays, fascinating wildlife and rugged landscapes. We visited uninterrupted stretches of white sandy beaches, magnificent ancient gorges, stunning carpets of colourful wildflowers and untouched coral reefs teeming with marine life.
With climate change becoming a bigger issue and coral bleaching happening at the Great Barrier Reef, Turquoise Bay gave me a glimmer of hope as it is an incredible spot to see some effervescent reef fish, along with bigger beauts like turtles, reef sharks (small ones) and stingrays and abundance amount of healthy coral reefs.
Real sand was used in this piece as well as high quality resin and pigments. To achieve the 3D look of the waves, I poured multiple layers after each one was fully cured. A heat gun was used to manipulate the resin to create waves. I then used a new technique to achive the coral reef effect using spray paints.
This piece has been fully cured for 30 days and has a key hole back, ready to be hang.
Bring a slice of Turquoise Bay into your home with the amazing coral reef effect under multiple layers of waves.
