Olivia Hosking is a young emerging artist from Adelaide, South Australia.
For much of her life, Hosking has been silenced by her struggle with Dyslexia, however, through the arts she has found her unique and vibrant voice all the while learning how to visually communicate what has always been inside of her. Hoskingโs sense of passion, sensitivity and innate intuition shines through her work as she develops her skills in challenging societal paradigms. Hosking is influenced by artists like Lucian Freud and Ben Quilty who inspire her interest in imperfections. She is fearless as she explores the combination of a whimsical aesthetic juxtaposed alongside politically charged themes. This is visually translated in her work through the interconnectedness of both light and dark shades that ultimately work to mimic her aesthetic and theme. Through portraiture, she is able to portray her everlasting admiration and interest in the inquisitive nature of humans which drives her passion. This admiration is what lead Hosking to study in New York at the Florence Academy of Arts where she developed strong skills in portraiture as well as a deeper interest and respect for classical art. The combination of her classical interest paired with her contemporary and abstract mindset is what holds Hosking as a unique and strong individual artist.
