Rainbow Butterfly

One of my earlier pieces that explored the use of bold block colours. At the time i had small children and I was looking for something that had bold colours and a subject matter that could appeal to children and adults.
The gems and mirrors were added as an interest point and caught the eye when taking a second look.
This piece has been re-painted and revarnished with better quality & deeper hue paints to ensure longevity.

I am a self-taught artist, taking inspiration in nature and textures and how light interacts with different mediums. Much of my work is mixed media and incorporates a level of detail that invites the observer to view the pieces again and again.
