Artwork Description

Rock pool with hidden crab reflects my ongoing exploration of the Australian coastline and its changing atmospheres. Inspired by walks on the beach, the water, rock pools, and the rhythmic interaction of sea and sky, this piece investigates the subtle narratives of life in a rockpool.

Through layered colour, Rock pool with hidden crab aims to evoke the sensory experience of the coast and the curiosity of one little crab. Using a palette of warm earthy tones, I seek to convey the crab spying out to see me and who was just as interested to see me and I was in seeing him.

Sarah creates expressive coastal landscapes using a brush and layered colours. Her work is calming and designed to create a snapshot of the ever-changing coastal landscape.

Artist Bio

Painting has been a passion of mine since I was a small child. Nature constantly inspires me, from delicate flowers, rolling hills or the changing moods of the ocean. Watercolour is my passion. The natural world around me provides much of the inspiration for my paintings. They are often the source of my art. Art provides the perfect opportunity to capture the range of colour and designs of nature.

Art for me, is an evolving journey. Currently, I am studying hard under the excellent guidance of Cheree Connolly, which can be seen in the continual growth of my skills.

My paintings have been displayed at the Royal Easter Show, Hornsby Community Centre and Lane Cove Art Gallery.
