The Waves reflects my ongoing exploration of the Australian coastline and its changing atmospheres. Inspired by walks on the beach, the water, the salt air, and the rhythmic interaction of sea and sky, this piece investigates the subtle narratives present where the ocean meets the land.
Through layered colour, The Waves aims to evoke the sensory experience of the coast, including the tumbling motion of waves transformed into foam and the resonant sound of the ocean. Using a palette of blues, green, and white, I seek to convey both the dynamic energy of the waves and the underlying sense of tranquillity they impart.
