Artwork Description

This is a piece from my latest series inspired by the Western Australia wheatbelt. The painting is based on an image from local photographer, Ray Stone, who I have been collaborating with over the last couple of years.

Artist Bio

David lives in Fremantle, Western Australia. He is a painter of landscapes, both natural and urban. He paints the places that he knows and loves, from the sub-alpine highlands of central Tasmania where he has hiked and explored, to the streets of Fremantle where he lives and works. His paintings, as well as being about place, are preoccupied with the softness and subtle shifts of light at the start and end of the day. He has honed his skills in the use of a narrow range of colours with delicate brushwork, soft blending and expressive mark making, to bring the canvas to life. Through his manipulation of paint he creates powerful moods which convey emotions of fragility, frailty, melancholy and simultaneously majesty and grandeur.
