The textural surface is a feature of this artwork. Over the course of several months I build up the surface and the image through layering, dissolving, scraping back and glazing. The image tends to develop as the painting takes on a life of its own.
Observers of this work whilst still in progress commented on its dreamlike appearance and the central figure who seemed to have the other figures swirling through his mind. Originally labelled “Dreams and other things” but retitled “Almost Alfred Hitchcock”.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
Over the past fifteen years I have enjoyed experimenting with many different mediums. Mixed media has won the day and my printmaking equipment has now been retired. Abstract with a realistic nod is the most accurate description of my current practice. Texture, muted colours and a varied approach to subject choice allows the freedom I need to keep learning.
