Artwork Description

I love old, derelict buildings. If only they could tell us their story and secrets. I found this old house on a dead end road off the road to Newstead in Victoria. I really enjoy exploring back roads; you never know what gems you will find. I wanted to convey the feeling that even though this house has been long abandoned, it was once quite a sturdy, well-loved home, probably built during the gold rush era of central Victoria.

Artist Bio

Pam is a highly regarded professional artist with a diverse background in both photography and painting. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, Pam established and ran a successful photography studio in Hobart for 20 years, building a reputation for artistic excellence and professional expertise.
Following retirement from photography, Pam turned to painting, channeling a long-held passion into a new creative pursuit. Now based in country Victoria, Pam works from a small home studio, where the influence of years of photographic practice continues to shape the artistic process.
Pam’s photography background informs her painting on multiple levels—most notably in the use of light to evoke mood, the application of colour, and an acute understanding of composition, perspective, and point-of-view. This deep understanding of visual storytelling shines through in her work, with a particular affinity for wide-angle views inspired by her landscape photography roots.
A deep love for nature serves as a continual source of inspiration, and Pam finds creativity in the beauty and details of the world around her.
