Artwork Description

As we have pointillism and cubism, for example, I would like to coin this style of painting as sectionalism (thanks to a friend of mine).
I had started this style about ten years ago and found that it appealed to me due to the placement of limited yet harmonious colours as well as the minimalist line work. These two elements create an interesting combination and offer most types of spaces in our home a pleasant focal point, however the artwork does not interrupt the harmony in the rest of the room.
As for the subject, I have had a recent fascination with the texture and colours of fish. Perhaps our recent move to the Hawkesbury River, north of Sydney has been the catalyst for that!

Artist Bio

Pat Kefalas is a visual artist, graphic designer and children's book author/illustrator based in Sydney. She alternates between a wide variety of mediums, but more frequently she enjoys creating intricate graphite pencil drawings of a bizarre nature and surreal oil paintings. After graduating from her fine arts and graphic design studies (with the latter completed at Enmore Design Centre, Sydney), Pat continues professionally in her own graphic design studio, Artsy Fartsy.

Born and raised in Australia and with Greek heritage, Pat appreciated the visual arts from a very young age. Where many children would wish for toys from Santa, Pat would hope to receive art supplies! With ten years separating her from her older sister's age, Pat spent much of her time in effect as an only child and relying on her own imagination and creativity for amusement. Reams of paper and countless drawing mediums were used to fulfill her passion for art!

With just on twenty years working in graphic and product design, Pat has shifted to focus back on drawing and painting.
