Artwork Description

My etching print captures a woman of an ageless time. Birds flutter her above her head. And she wears an adorned headdress and necklace made of flowers. I purposely set the photopolymer plate at an underexposed temperature setting in the UV machine, so as to raise the image and to give it a modern abstract look to the woman, birds and flowers.
My etching can be displayed well on any wall in a home, where it will provide a reflective mood and stir one's imagination to travel or just ponder on her mysteriousness.
My artwork is a complicated Intaglio etching process. A drawing is made first then photocopied on a transparency. Then it is processed in a UV machine by different temperature settings. Then the transparency is placed on a photopolymer plate, cut to size, and placed again in the UV machine. The plate then is put in water to make the image appear clearly. Then it is dried with a hair dryer then inked. The ink is wiped with tarlatan, then an etching paper is placed on the plate which is then passed through the press.

Artist Bio

For most of her working life, Patricia Concha has worked as a psychologist and social educator. She is now retired from her academic career.
When her mum became ill with breast cancer, Patricia began making doodles to make her mum laugh again. After her mum passed, Patrica then cultivated her newly found talent in watercolour and pencil portraits and abstract art, containing an intricate array of geometric shapes, doodles, squiggles, and distinct lines. Also, she has a flair for creating a story within the animals, faces, birds, and flowers she draws.
Patrica's eclectic art captures a collection of abstract, portrait, and pop street art drawings, and linocut, drypoint and photopolymer etchings.
