Artwork Description

When I was little, I used to spend most of my afternoons after school at my grandma's house playing in her garden. She had all this trees, and bushes and potted plants, flowers, vegetables, everything you could imagine.
Recently I started to add some plants to my little apartment to bring some light and happiness and I decided to make a small series of paintings of my plants called "Cotidiano" which means "day to day life" in Spanish.

For this painting I was inspired by a plant that some friends gave me as a gift. One day I had the little plant in my bathroom sink waiting for it to drain before taking it to its usual spot and I just took a picture of it as I liked the colours and the composition.
For this painting I used gesso with a bit of orange acrylic to give it that orange/mandarin undertone to the canvas, acrylics to add the base colours and some pastels to add details.

Artist Bio

I did a Bachelor of Illustration about eight years ago as I grew up between colouring books, coloured pencils, markers, watercolours and other material that my parents used to give me all the time when I was a child and I always loved the illustrations on the children's books that I had so I wanted to become a children's book illustrator and I have been working as a freelance ever since.

I was also always intrigued by oils so about five years ago I started to experiment with oils and acrylics and I feel in love. As I'm still learning , I tend to jump between different styles and techniques but I mostly paint portraits of people mixed with a bit of abstract, nature and just thingy that comes from my imagination.
