Artwork Description

The inspiration for this painting came from the lush, green scenery of the Atherton Tablelands, in North Queensland. Storm clouds gather in the distance with threatening rain to come.

Several layers of acrylic paint and the contouring of the foreground enhances the overall sense of depth. The double dotting technique adds texture that can be seen and felt. This painting will add a feel of freshness and tranquility to any room.

Artist Bio

I am an acrylic abstract painter living in Brisbane. I am an Aboriginal woman of Muluridji and Western Yalanji descent (Mareeba - Palmer River - Bloomfield area in Qld). I am accepted and acknowledged by the Aboriginal community of Kuranda, near Cairns, Qld. I have always been creative. Seven years ago, I began painting in earnest. I am a self taught painter who enjoys experimenting with different techniques. I explore the main themes of emotions, spirituality, spiritual growth and identity.
Many of my paintings can be categorised as contempoary stylised Aboriginal art (not representative of a specific Aboriginal group or art tradition, but rather exploring what it means to be an Aboriginal artist of mixed race and identity). I enjoy action painting, abstract expressionism, pour art and heavy texture work.
I hope that you find yourself in calm and tranquility when you view my work. Many works are designed to encourage the practices of mindfulness, meditation and love for Country.
